Lullay, mine liking

SSAA a cappella

Adam lay ybounden, this text is from the 15th century Sloane Manuscript 2593 in the British Library. Sir Hans Sloane (d. 1753) was a medical practitioner and physician to George II, and while most of his collected manuscripts are of medical interest, some of the Sloane manuscripts are fine Middle English verse. Sloane MS 2593 contains over seventy carol texts. In performing this new setting of the text for Lullay, mine liking, feel free to treat refrain cadences in a rubato manner, and then continue on by creating forward movement with the next verse.
